Press release:
Rahul Alindib Akber's Poetic Short Debuts to Acclaim in Dallas
Dallas, TX — July 2025 — The short film Isfahani Green, written and directed by Bangladeshi-born filmmaker Rahul Alindib Akber, made its debut at the Dallas Filmmakers Alliance Summer Showcase 2025 at the AT&T Discovery District Theater on July 12. The screening drew an overwhelmingly positive response from both audiences and critics.
Isfahani Green follows a poetic day in the life of Yasmin, a young designer who has just been laid off from her job. Portrayed by Ariel Zambeck, Yasmin wanders the city in a dreamy, melancholic haze, seeking meaning in small encounters and moments of beauty. Her day culminates in a strange and moving conversation with Idris, a blind alley poet who speaks in riddles and forgotten colors. The film is a meditation on memory, longing, and the things left unsaid, told through silence, glances, and color.
The fictional hue Isfahani Green becomes a metaphor for the in-between spaces of grief and imagination, things we sense but cannot quite put into words.
The film also features performances by Ehab Eskander, Will Frederick, Vini Hedglen, and Himangi, each contributing to a world grounded in quiet, poetic realism.
Rahul Alindib Akber, who began his career in advertising and later transitioned into technical and UX design, brings a unique visual language and emotional sensitivity to the screen. Isfahani Green marks a return to his long-standing passion for filmmaking and is the beginning of a wider festival journey that will begin this September.
Rahul is a Design Principal at IBM Corporation and a visual artist residing in Dallas, Texas. Known for his cross-disciplinary work that blends design, storytelling, and visual art, Akber brings a refined sensibility and a deeply personal voice to the screen. Isfahani Green draws from his background in design and Bangladeshi heritage to craft a film that is as visually nuanced as it is emotionally resonant.
Critics at the premiere praised Isfahani Green for its restrained storytelling and visual poetry. “A quiet, arresting piece that lingers long after the credits roll,” one local reviewer noted. Audience members described it as “unexpectedly moving” and “achingly beautiful.”
Isfahani Green will begin its official festival run starting this September, with selections to be announced in the coming weeks.
The film was shot by cinematographers Erick Sandoval and Niko Simic, with sound recorded by Cole Harvey and Ann Langston.
